New Year’s Eve in style!
And so it began, the end to another brilliant year here at The Fishes. This being said, it wasn’t over until we had seen the New Year in with a fantastic feast and a good old fashioned knees up! We were full to the rafters, with James and his motley crew cooking a four course storm in the kitchen, everyone enjoying a feast of cannons of lamb and gorgeous fillets of brill.
Everyone was sufficiently full by 10.30, so it was time to clear the floor and for everyone to get their dancing shoes on and securely fastened. DJ Staggy – Oxfordshire’s finest – took the helm on the decks and began spinning some classic disco and 80’s classics, to see us through to 2017, putting one hell of a shift in, a three-hour stint!
Everyone raised a glass just before midnight and we all sang in the new year with a bit of Auld Lang Syne in unison, followed by a conga line through the pub, as you do. Myself and the legend that is Glynn were in the kitchen again at 12.30 cooking bacon sandwiches for all of our slightly worse-for-wear but merry guests, these were very well received indeed!
The evening had come to a close at 2am, and as Frazer says ‘nothing good happens after 2am’. It was time to turn off the tunes and have a last drink and say a big thank you to all my lovely team.
I wish everyone a very happy 2017 and a big thank you to everyone that made this pub so enjoyable in 2016, I hope to see you all very soon, and make sure you don’t miss out next year!
