Art in the garden this summer
We’re giving over our glorious garden to a fantastic festival of art when the Summer Oxford Art Fair comes to The Fishes on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August.
More than 40 artists from Oxford, Abingdon, Thame and further afield will come together to transform our garden into an amazing outdoor gallery filled with unique pieces of modern and contemporary art.
There’ll be paintings, sculptures and ceramics, photographs and jewellery on show, and you can chat to the artists who’ve created them.
Wander round the garden and find a sunny or shady spot to sit back and enjoy the art works and decide whether there’s a piece for your home or office wall or a sculpture for your garden that you just have to have. With prices starting at a very affordable £20-25, there really is something for everyone.
We’ll be getting into the festival atmosphere with music and dancing all weekend long too, and the BBQ will be on!
On Saturday, the Ashnah American Tribal Style & Fusion Dancers will be performing – check them out here – and on Sunday we’ll have the Oxford Jazz Collective playing in the afternoon.
Budding artists of all ages can also get creative and take part in a summer art challenge to raise money for very good causes.
If you’re feeling arty, make a £1 donation to charity and paint your work of art in miniature on a small canvas. If yours catches the judges’ eye, you could win a bottle of bubbly or a voucher to spend on food and drink at The Fishes and a trophy for the mantelpiece!
Join us on one or both days for a fabulous, free, art-filled day! The Summer Oxford Art Fair starts at 11am and finishes at 5pm on the Saturday and Sunday. All the low-down is here and if you’re an artist and want to exhibit, you can find out more here
